Hey, all. Welcome to Rumble Bunny Reborn, a blog following the process of restoring my car, a 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus. I originally got him back in '87; dad picked him up for $700 if I recall correctly, and I drove it my junior/senior year in high school, plus 3 years in college. Eventually, enough mechanical problems and the stupidity of youth took it's toll on Bunny, and he went home to dads house; he's lived in his garage since then.
A few weeks ago, dad called me up and told me he was thinking of getting rid of Bunny. A lack of money was keeping him from doing what he wanted to it, and he needed the space in his party room (I mean garage). He gave me a couple of days to think about it and decide what I thought about it.
I was ready to let him go - the past is a tough thing to reclaim sometimes, and I don't exactly have money or time in abundance either. Mentioning it to the wife, however, got me in a spot of trouble. See, I was driving Bunny when we met and decided to stay together. She was pretty upset about the whole thing, even less willing to let it go than I was. But, my options pretty much sucked - bring it to my house and let it sit outside and moulder even more; take it out to my inlaws and let it sit; or let it go. Or so I thought.
One day at break, I realized I'd just paid off my truck. No more truck payment, AND a hard asset I could use to borrow some money. I ran the idea by my wife, who was more than willing to go along with it. So, I registered the car, borrowed the money, convinced dad to help me and the family work on it, and bang - Bunny is on the road to recovery as a family project.
Now, they write books about what I don't know about cars, but dad is a kickass mechanic, working on everything from lawnmowers to tanks (yes, tanks). So with the help of my dad John, my wife April, and my kids Jamison and Josie, we begin.
